How we look after your details.

Who we are

OPENSPACE Global ("OPENSPACE", "we") is a community for African and diaspora professionals and an initiative of Workspace (workspaceglobal.com). We decide how the details you share with us are used. Questions about your data go to mail@openspaceglobal.org.

What we collect

Only what you give us in our forms: your name, email address, WhatsApp number and country, plus what each form asks for. That can include your interests and field (membership), your organisation and plans (partnerships), and your CV link, LinkedIn and answers (careers and chapter applications).

Each submission also records the page it came from, the referring page and any campaign tags in the link, so we know which channels work.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and this site does not run analytics.

Why we use it

To welcome you into the community and add you to your country's WhatsApp community, to reply to enquiries and applications, to tell you about conversations and the podcast if you asked us to, and to understand how people find us.

We rely on your consent, which you give when you submit a form, and on our legitimate interest in running the community. We never sell your details.

Who handles it for us

Google stores form submissions in our Google Sheets and Google Forms, and runs our email. Vercel hosts this website. Luma handles registrations for our events, so when you register you share your details with Luma. Substack sends our newsletter if you opt in. WhatsApp (Meta) runs our community groups if you join one.

The Spotify player on our Podcast page and YouTube videos (loaded only when you press play) are provided by those services, which may set their own cookies. Our fonts load from Google Fonts.

These services may store data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union.

How long we keep it

Member details are kept while you are part of the community. Enquiries and applications are kept for 12 months after we last hear from you, then deleted. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.

Your rights

You can ask to see the details we hold about you, correct them, delete them or stop us using them. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave a WhatsApp community at any time. Email mail@openspaceglobal.org and we will respond within one month.

You can also complain to your data protection regulator, for example the UK Information Commissioner's Office, Ghana's Data Protection Commission, Nigeria's Data Protection Commission, Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner or South Africa's Information Regulator.

Age

OPENSPACE is for adults. Our forms are not meant for anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change how we use your details, we will update this page and the date below.
