Bad Bosses Vs Toxic People

How toxic are you to your team leads or employees at work? Or Are you one of those who believe they have no element of toxicity at work? Well, on the 7th of May, 2021, OPENSPACE brought yet another interesting Convo - ‘ Bad Bosses Vs Toxic People’ whose aim was to present differing perspectives on how unintentionally toxic people (we*) can be at the workplace! This online event was moderated by Derrick Kwaku Afriyie (Reg. HR Associate, UNFAO) and Vanessa Frimpong (Snr. Project Manager, EMJ UK).

‘They say people don’t leave jobs, they leave bad bosses’ a quote that was heavily discussed during the event. What comes to mind when you see this quote? Is it really true? It is undeniable that we’re sometimes great at work, however, it’s as pivotal to acknowledge that sometimes we’re not. Workplace toxicity goes both ways; leaders to their teams and employees to their leads. During this conversation, the attendees got to understand the causes, actions and consequences of toxic behavior at work. Most importantly, we got to learn how to be better!
