Gold from broken pieces

Updated: May 15, 2023

Since the year began, we've been discussing to some extent the untapped potential that is the human mindset. 2023 definitely started off with a bang and it's pretty clear we need to have a change of mindset if we want to thrive. Embracing change, instead of shying away from it makes you bold and helps you step out from boxes you've placed yourself in mentally.

Having a growth mindset allows you to live a certain way. You tend to give yourself room to breathe and be a bit easier on yourself. You get to understand that things happen and it's okay. You won't be able to control everything. However, keeping your faith in the midst of everything, finding beauty in the ugly and maintaining your joy in spite of all the setbacks is definitely the behaviour of a winner.

The Japanese art form kintsurokoi illustrates the philosophy of wabi-sabi which directly translates to "celebrating and finding beauty in imperfections. By finding beauty and potential in the broken pieces, kintsurokoi teaches us to celebrate and accept how we've come back from a struggle.

When we’re in the darkest of hard times, it can be difficult to maintain that optimistic perspective. Kintsurokoi serves as a visual reminder that we can use our resources, build resilience, and hope in possibilities—and create new landscapes. Understanding that failures are temporary setbacks and timing looks different to every individual are important features of a growth mindset.

We can't wait for you to join us in 2023 on our journey to Unlocking the African mindset.

And, as always, we are so thrilled that you’re still on this journey with us. You’re still clicking and opening. If there's anything that resonates with you, feel free to send us a direct message on our socials. We're glad you're a part of our community.
