The conversation aimed to give different perspectives on individual experiences with situations and circumstances they face. Some of which were easily relatable to the audience and some of which were quite peculiar and unique.

The conversation delved into different topics we face as young professionals while navigating life in the bustling city of Lagos. These included;

  • The never-ending threats to life by the Police on a typical day and the increasing crime rates make our streets unsafe, even in broad daylight.

  • We also discussed the various scams that hardworking young adults constantly fall victim to while struggling to commit to financial growth and independence.

  • There were also conversations around finding love and maintaining friendships, ensuring that one doesn’t abandon their emotional needs in the chaos of it all.

  • We also had interesting contributions on family tax, commonly referred to as black tax and how one couldn’t escape it once they started earning a salary in a Nigerian household

Overall, it was an interactive session as we shared tidbits on finding balance while maintaining good mental health. We all realize disappointments and let-downs in life are inevitable, but the ability to put them in control lies within us. Surviving Lagos is indeed a state of mind!
